As a result, Laporte Animal Clinic provides up to date and innovative approaches in areas such as pain management, treatment of metabolic diseases and other aspects of medicine and surgery. She believes in life long education for herself as well as her clients, and enjoys attending continuing education classes on new techniques and ideas in medical treatment for dogs, cats, and all species in her care. Much of her time is spent in client education regarding the proper care of pets, especially in the case of exotic animals where many medical problems can be prevented by proper nutrition and husbandry. She believes strongly in developing close relationships with her patients and “their people”.
She enjoys the challenges of pursuing internal medicine, diagnostics and surgery for dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, reptiles, birds and other unique pets. Dean is interested in all aspects of small animal and exotic medicine. Their goal was to establish a mixed animal practice with a strong emphasis on client education, personal one-on-one attention for patients and clients, and thorough, quality medical care for a wide variety of species.ĭr. After experience at a variety of practices in mixed, large animal, exotic and small animal work in Nebraska and Pennsylvania, she returned to Colorado with her husband, Andrew to start Laporte Animal Clinic.
During her school years, Marta completed preceptorships at the Denver Zoo and an exotic/small animal practice in Oregon, as well as assisting research in wildlife and zoonotic diseases. She attended CSU Veterinary School and graduated in 1990. She moved to Colorado to attend CSU and graduated with a bachelor’s degree (summa cum laude) in Zoology.
